Commissioning and overhaul of a propylene gas compressor in the USA
For Burckhardt Compression US, we managed the seven-month commissioning of a propylene gas compressor in the USA. At the beginning of the local works, it became clear that a comprehensive general overhaul of the entire machine was necessary due to incorrectly performed passivation.
In the first step, the cylinders were dismantled and sandblasted directly on-site. All valve seats were then manually lapped before the cylinders were repainted, reassembled, precisely aligned, and grouted. Since the entire piping system was also affected, we organized a specialized local company for the chemical cleaning of process lines.
After the successful completion of these works, the actual commissioning began. Our software specialist and our mechanic worked closely together to systematically process all commissioning points. Following successful mechanical tests, the plant was finally operated with process gas and handed over to the customer on schedule.
